In the spirit of Christmas, let us remember what this season is truly about.
Let us help others when we can, and count our blessings.

Last year, the New York Post Office received 155,000 letters addressed to Santa.
Through Operation Santa Claus, businesses and individuals have answered
these letters, making the holidays brighter and happier for disadvantaged
children and adults.

Here's a look at the families that have been helped through this special project:

Dear Santa Claus,
My name is Sonja. I am 18 years old. I have 3 sisters and 3 brothers.  Their names are Johanna 5 years old, Karen 1 1/2 years old and Yakira 7 years old. My brothers ages are Louis 14, Darrin 9, and Jose 8 years old.

For this Christmas we need clothes, socks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, underwear, shoes, food and toys. The reason why I'm writing this letter is to have my family happy this Christmas. We live with our sick mom. My mom have cancer and she doesn't work. I hope you read this letter. I wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Sincerely,
Sonja B.

Dear Santa Claus

Every year we always remember this great day which is the birth of Jesus Christ, hoping that you remember us this day.
After God my mother is all I have forever. She protects me and takes care of me. This day we want to laugh of happiness. I am an only child but our conditions of life do not allow us to have everything we want to.
It is not easy to live without the support of a father, only God knows all the embarrassing moments we have had, but we keep on going. I love my mother and I will never feel decreased if having her. All I as is that we are not forgotten this Christmas.
Julia

Julia's family was sent money to help pay their bills and buy winter clothes.

Dear Santa,
My name is Christine V. I am 11 years old and I have a brother who is 3 years old and his name is Carlos. My mom is on welfare and can't afford a decent Christmas for us. My mom has no money to buy us clothes or toys. My wish this Christmas is for you to give us clothes and maybe toys and please for my mom a toaster.

Thank you Santa,

Christine V.

p.s. Merry Christmas!

Christine's family was sent toys, some clothes, and a toaster.

By the way, not all letters were from children in need.
One simply said "I wish and and pray that the world
would be a more peaceful place next year."

Happy Holidays!

Count your blessings and pass this on.
